The Case of the Three Cupboards
Saturday, March 15, 2008, 1:00 - 2:30 PM
Using three large cupboards from the 1630s, 1660s and 1780s in the New Dutch Galleries, art historian Nella Kennedy takes attendees on a fascinating tour of Dutch history. From the individual stories of each cupboard she extrapolates the greater art, social, philosophical and political history of the Netherlands. Among other themes she will touch on social class structure (for whom the cabinets were made), trade & the colonies, style and fabrication of the furniture, and emigration.
Admission: $7, $6 senior, $4 student
