Visiting Writers Series with Anthony Doerr

Thursday, September 25, 2008, 7:00 PM

Doerr is the prize-winning author of three books, “The Shell Collector,” “About Grace,” and the recent memoir “Four Seasons in Rome: On Twins, Insomnia, and the Biggest Funeral in the History of the World,” which “The Boston Globe” has called “A beautiful paean to Rome, a passionately rendered love letter that will appeal to anyone interested in the Eternal City.” In 2007, the British literary magazine “Granta” named Doerr as one of 21 Best Young American Novelists. Doerr teaches in the low-residency MFA program at Warren Wilson College.

There will be a question-and-answer session with Doerr on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 3 p.m. in the Herrick Room of the DeWittCenter. Live music by the Hope College Jazz Ensemble will precede the reading at the Knickerbocker beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Additional information may be obtained online by visiting www.hope.edu/vws.

The Herrick Room is on the second floor of the DeWittCenter, which is located at 141 E. 12th St., facing Columbia Avenue at 12th Street. The Knickerbocker Theatre is located at 86 E. Eighth St.
