Reminiscent of years gone by, this special event celebrates Sinterklaas, the benevolent St. Nicholas. In true Dutch folk tradition, Sinterklaas arrives each December on his great white horse, surrounded by his mischievous Zwarte Piet helpers.

The procession begins at the Holland Area Arts Council (150 East 8th Street), following a brief appearance by Sinterklaas, and continues down Eighth Street until it reaches the Eighth Street Market Place, home of the Holiday Kerstmarkt. There, the Mayor will officially “welkom” Sinterklaas to Holland! Afterward, Sinterklaas will be on hand to greet children and be photographed by friends and family.
