"Love, Sex, and the I.R.S."

“Love, Sex and the I.R.S.,” a hilarious farce by William Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, opens Thursday, April 16, 2009 with an 8:00 pm performance and runs through Saturday, May 16. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays, April 16 – 18, April 23 – 25, and May 14 – 16 with a Sunday matinee on April 26, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors, and $10 for students. Discounts are available for groups of 12 or more. The box office opens April 8 and can be reached at 616.396.2021. Box office hours are Monday to Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, Thursdays and Fridays from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm and one hour before each show. Holland Civic Theatre is located at 50 West Ninth Street in Downtown Holland. Tickets for the Tulip Time performances, May 2 – 9, are $20 per person and can be purchased by calling 616.396.4221.

Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore wrote this wild farce, with twists of fate, sight gags, mistaken identities, and hilarious comic lines. Two men, Jon and Leslie, are out of work musicians who room together in New York City. To save money, Jon has been filing tax returns listing the pair as married. The day of reckoning comes when the I.R.S. informs the “couple” they’re going to be investigated. Leslie masquerades as a housewife, aided by Jon’s fiancée, Kate. Complicating matters further, Leslie and Kate are having an affair behind Jon’s back, Jon’s mother drops in unexpectedly to meet her son’s fiancée, and Leslie’s ex-girlfriend shows up demanding to know why he has changed and won’t see her anymore.
