Just minutes from U.S. 31 and Interstate 196, major north/south and east/west highways, Holland is a convenient hub for four of the region's top population centers - Chicago, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Traverse City.
Because Holland's founding families recognized the importance of education, the city is home to Hope College, a four-year liberal arts school known for its superior academic, arts, and sports programs. More than 20 other colleges and universities are located within a 2½hour drive (many with branches here).
The community's understanding of the importance of academics, and is evident in the area's excellent public K-12 school systems, as well as in private and charter schools.
The Holland area offers award-winning health care facilities, including Holland Hospital, which has been named one of the top 100 hospitals in the U.S. by both Healthgrades and Truven Health Analytics. And the greater Holland/Zeeland area also benefits from the new state-of-the-art Spectrum Health outpatient care facility. A great place to retire, Holland offers a variety of community activities for seniors, as well as housing options for specific needs.
The visual and performing arts play a vital role in of the region's quality of life. Holland boasts a wide array of art galleries, studios, and museums; and Hope College hosts productions by its Summer Repertory Theatre and performances year-round by critically-acclaimed musicians and performers.
