Tulip Time Festival

Tulip Time 2013 was a great success! The tulips bloomed right on time, the entertainment was fabulous and we enjoyed record-breaking attendance.  We're looking forward to hosting the 85th annual festival May 3-10, 2014.

Of course the number one attraction is the tulip itself — and there are literally millions to see, in our city parks, Downtown planters, Tulip Lanes, Windmill Island Gardens, Nelis’ Dutch Village, and Veldheer’s Tulip Farm. See this page for details.

Named the "Best Small Town Festival" by Readers Digest, the Tulip Time Festival celebrates Holland’s Dutch heritage with a week of events and special attractions. If you love a parade, Tulip Time has three – the Volksparade, Kinderparade, and Muziekparade. The Dutch Marktplaats serves up plenty of Dutch food, merchandise, and demonstrations, while the festive Kinderplaats provides kids with a park-full of activities. Throughout town, you’ll have many chances to experience traditional Klompen (wooden shoe) dancing, as well as the Art & Craft Fair, Quilt Show, carnival rides, concerts, theatrical shows, fireworks, trolley tours, and so much more!

Here's What Was New in 2013:

• The designs are submitted and we are waiting to see the choices for the first ever Tulip Time T-shirt Design Contest through Ambrose.
• The popular Tulip Time trolley tour now offers a ‘hop on, hop off' ticket, allowing festival goers easy access to the beautiful Tulip Lanes, Holland's Historic District, city parks and unique downtown Holland, all with a friendly Dutch-costumed guide. Purchase tickets at the booth in Centennial Park.
• Move to the Muziek is new for kids and families. Kevin Kammeraad's high energy dancing and daffy disco will be at the Park Theatre on Sunday, May 5 and Saturday, May 11.
• Make it a Tulip Time Dinner and a Show date. CityVu Bistro is offering a special menu for those with tickets to any of the Knickerbocker Theatre shows. Kncikerbocker shows include: Barbershop Harmony Gala, Holland Jazz Orchestra, FiddleFire, Chris Linn, Second City and Wooden Shoe-Be-Doo.
• Beechwood Church is the new venue for the Holland Chorale Show, featuring special guest vocalist Kathy Wagner, and the Dutch Celebration Show and Dinner.
• Join the Tulip Time Festival to celebrate the 75th birthday of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands with the Queen's Day Criterium, April 28. Make it a family event and bring the kids for a lap around the kid's course.
• Visit the Tulip Time Queen's Market, with more than 40 vendors at Window on the Waterfront Park. This new 8-day event is free to festival goers.
• Tulip Time Festival has an official app. Download "Holland Scout" from the app store to find information on Holland and Tulip Events, places, restaurants and a map of tulip plantings.
• May 4, Bethany Christian Services and 2nd Floor Bakery will team up to set the record for the World's Largest Cinnamon Roll. Look for them downtown in the park near Coldstone Creamery.
• Tulip Time has gone green. The JCI Kinderparade on Thursday, May 9 will include only person power, hybrid or electric vehicles.
• The GMB Muziekparade will be bigger and better this year. The Piston's Drum Line will make their debut appearance at the parade, and the winner of last year's new favorite, The Petoskey Steel Drum Band, will be back again. Rumor has it they will perform at the Bier Tuin Saturday evening.
