The purpose of the Holland Museum Archives & Research Library, housed in the lower level of the Holland Museum is to collect and make available to the public the Museum is archival collections. Materials collected document the people, places, activities and events that make up the past and unfolding history of the Greater Holland, Michigan area. The Archives also seeks to build on the existing collection of Dutch ethnographic material related to the early settlement and development of Holland, and to document the area's cultural diversity. The Holland Museum Archives and Research Library contains a diverse collection of historic documents, books, images and maps from the mid-1600s through today. Materials collected document the people, places, activities and events that make up the past and unfolding history of the Greater Holland, Michigan area. The Archives also seeks to build on the existing collection of Dutch ethnographic material related to the early settlement and development of Holland, and to document the area's cultural diversity. The collections include newspapers, magazines, microfilm, record albums, audio and video recordings, films, diaries, correspondence, Bibles and Bible-related commentaries, business records and family documents, and subject, biography and business files. The Archives holds image collections including negatives, photographs, postcards, maps, aerial views, lithographs, prints, drawings and paintings. Records from several area townships and the City of Holland are deposited with the Archives and Research Library as well. Click on the link for more information.
