Take a special Tulip Train to Holland to celebrate 90 years of Tulip Time! Experience the Tulip City on Saturday, May 4 or Saturday May 11 for day of exploration and adventure in Holland, Michigan.  On Saturday, May 4, Tulip Time visitors can experience Tulip City Tours, Windmill Island Gardens, an artisan market, a quilt show, Dutch dance performances, Tall Ship Dockside Tours, and shopping in Downtown Holland. On Saturday, May 11, enjoy the Dutch Marktplaats, the Tall Ship Dockside Tours, Windmill Island Gardens, more shopping, and the Muziekparade, the largest parade of the week! 

The train will depart Union Station in Chicago at 7:05 a.m. and arrive in Holland at 11:28 a.m. The train will depart Holland at 5:50 p.m. and arrive in Chicago at 8:24 p.m. giving travelers an afternoon to take in the town.

Representatives from the Holland Area Visitors Bureau will be on board to help answer questions and sell tickets to Windmill Island Gardens where over 120,000 tulips are planted in landscaped beds and fields.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

1. Most events and attractions are within a 15-minute walk from the depot. The downtown is less than a 5-minute walk.

2. Windmill Island Gardens admission tickets will be available for purchase on the train (admission ticket includes a shuttle wristband for transportation to the island). Cost for both admission ticket and shuttle wristband is $15 per person. Cash only. 

3. Wear comfortable walking shoes! There is no shuttle service from the depot to the downtown.

4. Food service – Downtown Holland offers a number of dine-in and counter service restaurants. Festival food booths are also in and around the downtown area. The Civic Center Place, located at the west end of downtown offers a Dutch buffet daily from 11am-2pm. If you’re bringing your own lunch, picnic tables are located at all public parks including Windmill Island Gardens.

5. The Muziekparade starts at 2pm on May 11 and begins 1 block from the depot. Eighth street (our ‘main’ street) will be lined with people for this popular 1 ½  hour parade. There is still plenty to do and see if you choose not to watch the parade.
